Balance in 5 Short Steps
Do you work too much and don’t have enough play? Party too hard and don’t look after your health? Or are you super healthy but have been neglecting your friends?
Rather than making big new years resolutions (that we all struggle to keep), making small changes each day, each week or each month is more likely to succeed.
Whatever your lifestyle, activities and goals for the new year, there are frameworks that will help you achieve a healthy balance across different areas of your life.
Here is one easy framework that I use called: S.W.E.E.P.
S.W.E.E.P. stands for:
Using the above I can check: am I too focused on one thing or not putting enough time and energy into something else?
Am I getting enough sleep? Or am I resting too much?
How is work going? Am I putting in too much time and neglecting other areas or am I not putting in enough to reach my career goals?
Am I eating well?
Have I been able to express myself emotionally?
Have I had enough downtime or playtime?
Also, there is no need to think of things in a grand scale, we can use these five simple steps each day, each week or each month. And then at the end of each year we can look back and take stock of what we have been doing.
